Truesdale Open Again

The on again, off again, recruiting saga of 6-2 Dodge City shooting guard David Truesdale appears to be on again.
Truesdale, who committed in the summer to the College of Charleston and to UNC-Wilmington this fall, opted not to sign at the last minute this fall, according to Dodge City Head Coach Brian Hoberecht.

Truesdale scored 20 points on seven of 13 shooting as Dodge City defeated a scrappy Johnson County team on Friday at the Jayhawk Shootout.
"David decided close to the signing period that he just wasn't in a situation where he was ready to make a decision," Hoberecht explained. "So he decided to wait until the late signing period to sign."
"It has nothing to do with whether he likes Wilmington, because I think he really likes Wilmington," Hoberecht continued. "He felt like it was a good situation for him and a good place to be, but he just wasn't ready to make the decision and didn't feel like it was time for him to sign."
Hoberecht said that Truesdale consulted with his mother before finalizing the decision to sign late.
Truesdale took a pair of fall official visits to New Mexico and UNC-Wilmington before picking the Seahawks in early November.
"The recruiting process is wide open now," Hoberecht explained. "I think Wilmington is proceeding with caution right now. I think they are recruiting him and will continue to recruit him, but I think that they are recruiting other players as well."
In fact, a Wilmington assistant coach was on hand at the Jayhawk Shootout on Friday.
Rivalshoops.com asked Hoberecht if Truesdale's change of heart had anything to do with him potentially being recruited at the highest level possible this winter and into the spring.
"I think the thought of playing in a power conference may be something that intrigues David a little bit and something that he would like to pursue," Hoberecht said. "But I think at this point in time, he is kind of open to anything, and we're kind of going day by day right now."
Many people assumed that Truesdale signed with Wilmington this fall, so not a lot of college coaches have contacted Hoberecht thus far regarding his star guard's sudden availability.
"I haven't really talked to anybody at this time regarding David," the coach said. "Very few people know about David and his situation, and very few people have talked to me about him, so we I am telling everybody that they can recruit him right now if they want to."
"He's made two commitments and back out of both of them," Hoberecht continued. "It's probably a little bit early to start recruiting David, but he's a good kid and a good person who has struggled with his decision process here."
