When both sides see something that they like, the recruiting process can move quickly. That's what happened when power forward Harrison Henderson confirmed to Rivals.com that he wrapped up his official visit to USC by making a Sunday morning verbal commitment.
A 6-foot-10 power forward from Grand Prairie (Texas) South Grand Prairie, Henderson was actually making his second visit to campus in two weeks.
Two weekends ago, Henderson was in the Los Angeles area for the Pangos All-American camp and stuck around an extra day to visit with Andy Enfield and his staff and earned an offer. An official visit was set for this weekend and now his recruitment is over.
"It's a run and gun type of offense and I know coach will let me be able to play my game and work well with the other players," Henderson told Rivals.com. "I also love the family feel that they give."
One of the more intriguing three-star prospects in the class of 2016, Henderson has always been a bit of a boom or bust type of player.
To go with his 6-foot-10 size, Henderson is a very fluid athlete who moves well laterally and runs the court like a wing. He is very skilled offensively and can put the ball on the floor, uses fakes and has legitimate shooting range out to the three point line. He's also pretty bouncy around the rim and can be a rim protector for stretches on the defensive end. When he plays like that, he looks like a legitimate Rivals150 type of talent.
On the other hand, Henderson lacks strength and can be pushed around. The bigger battle, though, is with finding consistency. He seems to be either hot or cold and sometimes takes himself out of the game by roaming the perimeter and settling for too many jumpers.
"I think that my versatility on the court helps," said Henderson. "I'm also an energetic player who cheers my teammates on and I'm willing to do all of the little things to win."
The Trojans first commitment from the class of 2016, Henderson plays his travel ball with the Dallas Mustangs.
