Trial Date Set For McGee

Marcetteaus McGee, Wisconsin's 6-1, 165 pound incoming freshman point guard from Chicago's Farragut High School, will be arraigned on charges of second-degree sexual assault on Tuesday, September 3, 2002, according to a report in today's Badger Herald, the Wisconsin student newspaper. The trial is scheduled for November 7, 2002.
McGee had been taking summer classes at the Big Ten school when the alleged incident occurred. Last season at Farragut, he averaged 16.0 points and 6.0 assists and was a unanimous all-city selection. He signed a national letter of intent with the Big Ten school during the spring 2002 NLI period.
If convicted, McGee could serve a maximum of 30 years in jail. He is also charged with a misdemeanor for interfering in the reporting of a crime. He is not expected to join the team until after this issue is resolved.
