Townes to Arkansas

Stan Heath and the Arkansas Razorbacks added some size and defense when Darian Townes, a 6-foot-9, 215 center, committed to the SEC school today. The former Georgetown commitment saw enough on his only 2004 official visit to say yes to the Razorbacks.
Townes, who failed to qualify for Georgetown in 2003, is now prepping at the powerful Hargrave Military Academy. Townes said he enjoyed his visit to Arkansas and said it reminded him of home. He also attributed the fact that Heath is bringing in some of the nation’s best players.

Arkansas has brought in some major talent since Heath was named the head coach of the program. The team has received commitments from man-child Al Jefferson, 7-footer Steven Hill and the athletic Marcus Monk.
Townes brings attention to defensive details and with his long body, he'll block a ton of shots. There is little secret that he'll have to add some weight in order to handle the rigors of the very physical SEC but with the talent already secured for the 2004 class, Townes will be able to bulk up over time.
