Townes Starting Over at Hargrave

After failing to qualify at Georgetown in 2003, Darian Townes is back on the recruiting scene. The 6-foot-9, 215 pound power forward/center is currently prepping at Hargrave Military Academy (VA) and he is in the process of looking at two other colleges.
Beginning his second tour on the recruiting trail, Townes took a visit to Arkansas last weekend. He talked to RivalsHoops about his trip to the SEC school.

“It was wonderful,” Townes said. “I was just like home back in Alexandria. The facilities were nice. The campus was not really spread out like some schools are. I really enjoyed it.”
Like most recruits, he spent some time on the court with the current time and got a feel of the Razorback system. With the new energy brought in by head coach Stan Heath, Townes liked what he saw.
“I played some pick up with them,” Townes said. “They are pretty good. I like what they are doing out there.”
The former Hoya pledge said he hasn’t been in contact with his former top school after missing a qualifying score. To him, that was a little surprising.
“I didn’t here from Georgetown at all this summer. That kind of hurt. They didn’t call. They didn’t even see how things were going with me after I moved,” Townes said.
He said he’ll be going to George Washington to make a visit but the date hasn’t been finalized at the moment. Townes said Arkansas and George Washington were the only schools that he is considering at the moment but he’d welcome more schools if they inquired.
