All Hallows guard Ricky Soliver came into last night's contest averaging 37.5
points per game in the tournament. Tabor's defense has held it two opponents to an
average of 50 points a game.
So the big questions were -- could Tabor's defense shut down Soliver and his mates? And could Tabor muster up enough offense to escape with a victory? The answers were yes and no.
Tabor's mixture of zones did contain Soliver holding him to only 17 points. But the Tabor offense just wasn't potent enough. Plus, Tabor committed too many costly turnovers at crucial junctures in the contest.
All Hallows got a much needed lift from sophomore guard Ronald Ramon, who came off the bench to score 15 points. He missed only one shot.
Still Tabor had its chances, but couldn't overcome the turnovers. Notre Dame bound forward Torin Francis had 22 points and seven rebounds. Francis has had a very good tournament thus far and will make Notre Dame fans very happy.
Francis also played a good game defensively. Due to his presense in the middle, this stopped the quick All Hallows guards from getting easy baskets.
Sophomores Charles Burch (11 points) and Khaliq Gant (eight points) helped Tabor back into the game. However, All Hallows held on for the victory.
All Hallows advances to the championship game against Westchester and Tabor will play Kathleen for 3rd place.
