Torin Francis Has Triple-Double

LEWES, Del. -- Tabor Academy of Massachusetts can always depend on a steady performance from its All-American forward, 6-9 Notre Dame bound Torin Francis.
But the Seawolves are that much more dangerous when their other players step it up a notch for Dave First's prep program.

On Sunday at the Slam Dunk to the Beach, guard James Parker combined with Francis to provide Tabor with a winning combination in a 59-49 victory over Roger Bacon H.S. of Cincinnati, Ohio.
After shooting zero of six in the first half, Parker was the catalyst in the Seawolves' second half comeback, helping Tabor turn a nine point third quarter deficit into a ten point win.
Parker shot five of six from the field in the second half, including a trio of three pointers, one the way to 14 points. His pair of consecutive three pointers midway through the fourth quarter allowed Tabor to take a 50-42 lead.
Francis then scored on a feed from point guard Luke Gibson to increase the lead to 52-42 with 2:55 to play, and Parker canned another three moments later to increase the lead to 55-44.
Francis was terrific all afternoon for the Seawolves, putting together a triple double of 30 points, 15 rebounds and 10 blocks against Bacon. While his performance was necessary to Tabor to win, it was Parker's clutch shooting that put the Sea Wolves over the hump.
Josh Hausfeld, an athletic combo guard headed to Miami of Ohio next fall, led the Spartans with 24 points on 10 of 20 shooting. Unsigned and versatile small forward Frank Phillips collected 15 points, 13 rebounds and three assists in defeat for Bacon.
Francis proved he is a legitimate McDonald's All American candidate for next Spring's game to be held at Madison Square Garden. Francis will certainly be a welcome addition to the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame.
