Entering his name into the Transfer Portal over a month ago, things have been relatively silent surrounding Landers Nolley. A standout freshman at Virginia Tech last season, Nolley has not been short on college suitors and has taken the final step before making his commitment.

A 6-foot-7 small forward that was on a number of NBA Draft boards earlier in the season, Nolley’s year didn’t end as he had hoped and decided that switching schools was in his best interests prior to beginning a professional career. Where that takes place is up for debate but he did tell Rivals.com that he is primarily focused on a final group of three that consists of Georgia, Memphis and Ole Miss.

Entering the Virginia Tech program in the fall of 2018, the former top-50 prospect sat out the year due to questions surrounding his academics. Beforehand, Nolley had committed to the staff at Georgia before switching allegiances and committing to the former staff at the ACC program.

Nolley stuck through the coaching chance that saw Mike Young overtake operations in Blacksburg. From there, he exploded onto the scene with a career opening 30-point contest against Clemson. He went on to flourish at the Maui Invitational later in the month, averaging nearly 20 points per game during his three-game stretch against BYU, Dayton and Michigan State.

He completed the year by averaging 15.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists, while making over two 3-pointers per game. Receiving the start in 29 of the 32 games that he played in, the Georgia native is expected to make his college commitment before the end of the month. He will also push for a waiver to play immediately in the fall if the one-transfer rule does not pass through.
