Michigan State is scouring the JUCO ranks this fall in case incumbent sophomore point guard Marcus Taylor leaves school to declare for the June 2002 NBA Draft. Clemons appears to be one of several potential targets for the Spartans.
Clemons averaged 7.5 points, 3.8 assists and close to two steals per game as a freshman last year at CSI. He appeared in all 33 of the Golden Eagles' games, but did not start any.
This year, Clemons is the starter from day one, and he led Southern Idaho to three victories last weekend at the Hutchinson (KS) C.C. tip-off basketball tournament.
A tremendous defensive player, Clemons wreaks havoc in transition, where he uses his quickness and floor vision to pick apart opposing defenses.
When asked what will factor into his decision, Clemons told Rivalshoops.com that he wants to play for a winning basketball program that utilizes an up tempo style of play.
Clemons, who hails from Raleigh, N.C., attended Bonner Academy prior to enrolling at CSI. He has already unofficially visited N.C. State and plans to take some official visits in the spring.
JUCO Junction/Rivalshoops.com will keep you posted on Clemons' recruitment this winter and into the spring signing period, so stay tuned.
