Top Returning Scorer In NY League

Wes Matthews, a 6'3'' 170 pound combo guard from Monsignor McClancy High School in East Elmhurst, New York, will try and boost his stock this winter playing in New York City's rugged Catholic League.
Wes has heard from Central Connecticut and continues to express interest in Hofstra. He does not have any visits lined up.

Matthews, who will be competing with Riverside Church this fall on the New York City circuit, as well as with the Real Scout team at the IS8 League in Queens, has improved his playmaking and ballhandling skills, but is still more comfortable on the wing. Wes has shown an ability to create his own shot and penetrate off the dribble. He needs to be more consistent shooting the ball. That consistency is likely what separates Matthews from other players who are being hounded by low and mid-major programs. His size is attractive, but the consistency is not there yet.
Matthews, who competed with The New York Elite this summer, plays for Coach Don Kent at McClancy. He was the top scorer among juniors in the New York City Catholic League (CHSAA) last season at 18 points per game.
Wes carries an 80 average in the classroom. He will take the SAT test in both October and November.
