Ashton Hagans was one of the top performers during the Atlanta stop of adidas Gauntlet. The four-star point guard in the 2019 class made a strong case to potentially add a fifth star at the next rankings update when he went for 22 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds in a close win over Team BBC.
Kansas, USC, UConn and Kansas State have put out scholarship offers to him recently, and Kentucky and North Carolina have been in contact with offers possibly coming down the road. Hagans is now well into double digits in high-major offers.
IN HIS OWN WORDS
Hagans broke down some of the programs involved in his recruitment.
North Carolina: “They watched me the first weekend of the adidas Gauntlet. Ever since then, they said they love my game. I think they are going to offer. It’s a great school and they have a great coach.”
Kansas: “It’s the same thing with Kansas. I watched Frank Mason a lot. I like the way those guys play.”
UConn: “That’s a big offer. It’s a great program. They have great coaches. They were at all our games during the first stop.”
Kentucky: “They’ve been on me hard lately. Coach Cal came to a couple of our games and the assistant has been at a lot of our games."
RIVALS' REACTION
Hagans has said on multiple occasions that he’s going to take his time with his recruitment and likely won’t be committing anywhere until the later part of his senior year. As one of the top point guards in his class, he’s going to have a long list of options to choose from when all is said and done. At this point, it’s hard to really give any schools an edge, but offers from Kentucky and North Carolina could certainly shake things up.
