Top player makes his move

The speculation had been rampant for some time on Andrew Wiggins, the No. 1 player in the class of 2014. Wiggins had been expected to make a move to 2013, and on Thursday, it happened.
The 6-foot-7 small forward from Canada, who attends Huntington (W.Va.) Prep, confirmed with his coaches earlier this afternoon that he would be making the switch.
"It just happened," Huntington coach Rob Fulford told "Andrew didn't even know for sure until a little earlier today when his parents got him word.
"He was waiting on his parents. That was the real wait with it. It was just a family decision."
After dominating the high school and summer circuits for the past few years, Wiggins has developed into a potentially special recruit.
For most of his recruitment, Kentucky and Florida State have been considered the leaders but Wiggins and his camp have recently expressed interest in other schools. North Carolina checked in earlier this week while Kansas has an assistant in Huntington today.

While the change to 2013 -- where he will assume the No. 1 spot -- speeds up Wiggins' recruiting calendar some, it's something that was expected and that he'd been planning for.
"We anticipated he would switch but we didn't know when," said Fulford. "It doesn't have any impact on him as a player. It's just another day for him."
