SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Thanks to his play this winter, 6-foot-8 wing Cameron Reddish has risen into the top five of the 2018 rankings.
A well-talked about and known name since entering the high school ranks a few years back, no one has ever questioned the Westtown (Pa.) School star’s talent. However, this winter, things really seem to be clicking for him.
Over the weekend at the Hoophall Classic, Reddish had another huge outing going for 22 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals while stealing the show in what was supposed to be a showcase of the two top big men in the senior class, DeAndre Ayton and Mohamed Bamba.
IN HIS OWN WORDS
The five-star junior named said that six schools are standing out at the moment, discussed the possibility of early official visits (he’s taking the SAT on Jan. 21) and his timeline for a decision.
“Kentucky, Duke, Villanova, Syracuse, UConn and Arizona. They’re all kind of saying the same thing. Different pitches here and there. Villanova is saying that I could be the first one-and-done. Duke is saying that I could come in and be the guy.
“I am thinking of planning a couple official visits. I am not sure where to but I am planning on some soon.
“I need to go somewhere that I feel that I can be at home, have a good relationship with the people I am close with and a good atmosphere in the gym. Probably in the summertime for a decision.”
WHAT'S NEXT?
Expect Reddish to take a deeper look at his recruitment sooner rather than later and for a few official visits to be taken following the completion of his high school season this spring. A commitment could occur before the month of August rolls around, something that bodes well for the likes of Kentucky, Duke, Villanova, Syracuse, UConn and Arizona.
RIVALS' REACTION
There aren’t many in the class of 2018 as good as Reddish and he still has tons of upside. Early word has been that Reddish could look to get things out of the way sooner than later, so hearing it from him means that the schools recruiting him won’t be left twisting in the wind for a drawn out decision. It’s early and he hasn’t talked favorites, but Duke does appear to be in good position.
