Top Five for Newbold

Tyler Newbold, the No. 140 ranked player in the class of 2005 took a visit to one of his favorites yesterday. The 6-foot-5, 190-pound shooting guard from Payson (Utah) High School has five favorites in all.
"I just went to Utah on an unofficial visit,” said Newbold. “I enjoyed it a lot. I had a chance to meet the entire staff for the first time. I liked what they had to say. They seem like good guys and good coaches."

The new Utah staff has not put a scholarship offer on the table yet like Utah State and Wyoming have, but the Utes are in Newbold’s top five.
"My top five schools are Utah, Utah State, Wyoming, Gonzaga, and Arizona State,” he said. “Utah State and Wyoming have both offered."
Already with a 22 score on his ACT and possessing a 3.8 GPA, Newbold plans to wait to take his official visits until the fall. This summer his focus is on increasing his athleticism.
"I’m working hard this summer,” he said. “I’m trying to get quicker on the defensive end. I’m also in the weight room trying to get stronger."
Newbold will attend the adidas Camp in July.
