Top five for Baird

Three-star 2010 prospect Stephen Baird of San Antonio (Texas) James Madison is focused on five schools at this stage in his recruitment.
I'm looking at Texas A&M, Marquette, Utah, Kentucky and Kansas State," said Baird, a 6-foot-7, 190-pound forward. "There are about 15 other schools that are in the background, but I don't think I would go to any of those schools."

Baird noted that all five schools had been in to see him this fall and that he has official offers from all but Kansas State.
Texas is also in play with Baird, but Baird is in a limbo position with the Longhorns.
"Texas is still an option," he said. "I'm just sort of waiting to see what happens. They had offered and at one time I would have liked to have gone there. But they are sorting things out with their 2009 class, and want me to wait. They are still kind of there, but at the same time I have to move on."
A skilled four man, Baird is focused on a couple aspects of his game.
"I'm working on my speed and ability to shoot over defenders," he said. "I've always had a good shot but haven't always used it when I'm guarded. Now I'm working on rising up on people."
Although Baird has only visited one of his top schools when he went to Texas A&M's elite camp, he would like to make a decision sooner than later.
"I want to decide as soon as possible," he said. "I don't want to wait until the last minute. Hopefully I'll figure it out over this school year."
