Weekend Eye-Catchers
Adonis Thomas
SF, Memphis (Tenn.) Melrose - 2011 Memphis signee
With his added strength since the end of the summer, Thomas is even more difficult to handle when he slashes to the basket. Against Oak Hill Academy on Friday night, he worked his way into the lane for a game-high 27 points. Expect Thomas to be an immediate impact player next year for Memphis with his versatile and explosive game.
Andre Hollins
SG, Memphis (Tenn.) White Station - 2011 Minnesota signee
Hollins appears to be quite comfortable in the role of a primary scorer. He is the "go-to" guy for powerful White Station, and he certainly delivered over the weekend. Saturday night he put up 29 points against Huntsville Lee and averaged 32 points over the three-game stretch with a 46-point outburst against Findlay Prep.
Damien Wilson
SF, Mouth of Wilson (Va.) Oak Hill Academy - 2012
This athletic lefty did an admirable job defending Adonis Thomas Friday night although Thomas had a distinct strength advantage. Offensively Wilson was very impressive in the second half of the game. He knocked down some jumpers, got to the foul line and had some highly impressive finishes at the basket. He ended up with a team-high 20 points.
Nick King
SF, Memphis (Tenn.) East - 2013
The future is very bright for this bouncy, left-handed 6-foot-6 wing. With the size and skill set that reminds some of Tennessee wing Scotty Hopson, King can knock down shots from deep and attack the basket with authority. He also has the potential to be a high level defender and rebounder. He scored 24 points in a tough loss Saturday.
Johnathan Williams III
SF, Memphis (Tenn.) Southwind - 2013
Another skilled lefty with length in the 2013 class out of Memphis, Williams was most impressive on Saturday distributing the ball to his teammates. He handles with vision and repeatedly broke down the defense, creating scoring opportunities for his teammates. His length makes him a dangerous defender, and Williams is also plenty capable of scoring.
