Four-star forward Jermaine Harris moved up to No. 75 overall in the updated 2018 Rivals150 last week, and he certainly backed it up with his play at Under Armour Association Finals last weekend. He’s become a hot commodity with college coaches ever since back in April, but now he’s ready to start trimming his list down to a more manageable number.

Harris told Rivals.com he’s now down to a final eight of Kansas, Maryland, Miami, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Southern Utah, West Virginia and Xavier.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

Harris broke down the eight who made the cut.

Kansas: "Kansas culture and staff speaks for themselves they do a good job of developing guys with my skill set."

Maryland: "Maryland is home, the coaching staff has been doing a great job of creating a family environment."

Miami: “I’ve talked to them on the phone quite a bit, but I haven’t built a relationship with them in person yet. They just want to get to know me and want me to come down and visit.”

Rhode Island: "Rhode Island I think is a top 25 program and they way they treat their players is something I really like."

South Carolina: “I don’t know too much about their program, but it seems like a great program. I talk to their assistant coach a lot and just started talking to their head coach. They want me to come visit and they said they like my style of play.”

Southern Utah: "Southern Utah the (assistant) coach (Chris) Pompey was the first coach to offer and say I was good."

West Virginia: “It’s also a great program. I’ve visited twice before. They are a hard-working program. They have a great coach and I talk to them a lot.”

Xavier: “It’s a great program. I’ve met Coach Mike [Pegues] and I’m supposed to be meeting the head coach when I go down there. It’s a great program and I love how they develop their kids.”

RIVALS REACTION

Overall, the schools Harris kept on his list all make sense for him. All the schools and coaches involved have had success with players like him in the past, and they all have had success getting players out of the DMV area. West Virginia has been one of the schools mentioned most with him as the Mountaineers have had on campus multiple times. Maryland head coach Mark Turgeon was a regular at his games over the weekend as was Chris Mack. He also seemed impressed by Monday's offer from Kansas.

Harris said visits will play a big part in helping decide where he feels most comfortable, so this one could take some time to take shape.
