Top-35 junior Earl Timberlake remains a wanted man

WASHINGTON, DC – The recruiting process and national acclaim started much earlier for Earl Timberlake compared to others in his 2020 class. Entering his junior season, things have only picked up further for the DeMatha Catholic product as his stock has gone national.

A 6-foot-5 lefty wing that can play three positions and on both sides of the floor, Timberlake has not failed to succeed on the high school and travel circuits, all while remaining a continued participant within select USA Basketball training camps.

Having already taken a fall official visit to Providence, Timberlake told Rivals.com that Clemson, Maryland, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, South Carolina and WVU were among the group that has kept in close contact with him.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

Maryland: “We aren’t that far from each other. They just come and show their face sometimes and try and get me to a few of their games. I like what (Mark) Turgeon is doing to get some of the best guys from the area.”

Oklahoma State: “He (Mike Boynton) said that I remind him of Tony Allen. I never heard of that one before but that I have a lot of potential I feel like. I want to see if it is really home if I go there and if it is family oriented.”

Providence: “Coach (Ed) Cooley, he is a cool dude. He came from a lot and been through a lot in his life so he is a really cool dude. The whole program, that was my first official visit, so it was cool. He actually said to me that he would be starting two freshmen and by the end of it, he would be starting three and now he does. I have been seeing AJ Reeves playing his butt off, too.”

South Carolina: “They like my toughness and the way that I play defense which would translate to the next level well.”

WVU: “They really like to press and Coach (Bob) Huggins is a good dude. He is a good coach. I know the kid that they just got, Oscar (Tshiebwe), and that he said that he would really like to play with me.”

WHAT'S NEXT & RIVALS' REACTION

While it may be difficult to take any visits during the high school season, there are two on Timberlake’s mind. “I have just been to Providence lately,” he said. “But I want to try and get to South Carolina and Oklahoma State for an official visit.”

There is no clear leader just yet for Timberlake but the next few months should answer who is the teams are too beat for the super talented, versatile prospect out of the junior ranks.
