Jimmy Tobias, an underrated 6-4, 185 pound shooting guard from Dillard H.S. in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., has taken one official visit and planned another for this month.
Tobias told Rivalshoops.com that he visited Florida State officially from Aug. 30 through Sept. 1, and will visit Alabama-Birmingham from Sept. 20-22. His older brother, Brandon, signed with UAB last spring.
South Florida is scheduled to pay a visit to Tobias' Ft. Lauderdale home this Friday, Sept. 13.
Tobias said he's collected scholarship offers from Florida State, South Florida, UAB, Auburn and Clemson. He's also had contact with Maryland, Syracuse and West Virginia, yet has no scholarship offers from those schools to date.
"I like Florida State a lot, but it's kind of hard to say who leads right now until I visit the rest of the schools," Tobias said.
Tobias was impressive back in June at the Rumble in the Bronx Tournament, where he led Team Breakdown to the title game against Riverside Church. During the month of July, he played with the Coast to Coast program.
Last year at perennial South Florida power Dillard H.S., Tobias averaged 20 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals per game. He said he has a 2.4 GPA and fell short of qualifying on his first SAT attempt. He will take the exam again on Oct. 12.
We will keep you posted on Tobias' recruitment in the weeks to come, so stay tuned.
