Jimmy Tobias, an underrated 6-4, 185 pound shooting guard from Dillard H.S. in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., should be a solid addition to the Oklahoma basketball program. Tobias signed a letter of intent with Oklahoma last week.
Tobias, who visited Florida State officially from Aug. 30 through Sept. 1 of last Fall and Alabama-Birmingham from Sept. 20-22th, can make an impact right away at Oklahoma. He has the skills to play three different positions -- point guard, shooting guard, and small forward. Tobias is a slashing athlete with a streaky stroke from beyond the three point arc. He can score points in bunches.
His older brother, Brandon, signed with UAB last spring.
South Florida, Auburn and Clemson were also involved at one time during his recruiting process. Some mild interest was expressed by Maryland, Syracuse and West Virginia too but these schools did not make an offer.
RivalsHoops.com had seen Tobias last summer. Tobias was impressive at the Rumble in the Bronx Tournament, where he led Team Breakdown to the title game against Riverside Church. During the month of July in 2002, he played with the Coast to Coast program.
