Time for Bell to ring it up

The early signing period is fast approaching, but Jordan Bell is planning on making a decision before then.

The 6-foot-7 forward at Long Beach (Calif.) Poly, Bell ranks No. 69 nationally in the 2013 Rivals150 and is down to Oregon, Connecticut and Auburn.
The athletic senior kicked off his official visit process over the weekend with a trip to Eugene to see the Ducks.
"It was really good, I loved it," Bell told Rivals.com. "They had great facilities, just everything was good about them. Everything was like brand new. I think I got along great with the players and coaches, we bonded a lot."
While the Oregon visit was very good, Bell still wants to see more campuses. UConn's Kevin Ollie has made an impression on him because of his approach and West Coast roots and Bell will be in Storrs soon.
"I want to meet the players and coaches and see how everything is out there," he said. "I want to see if I can fit in. Coach Ollie is a really good person and he's a West Coast guy, so there's a connection."
After he wraps up his visit to Storrs this weekend, Bell will look to visit Auburn and he's also impressed with the way Tony Barbee and his staff have handled his recruitment. After that, Bell should be ready to make a decision and it's something he's looking forward to getting out of the way.
"I'm trying to get it done in the fall," he said. "It's going to help me get focused on my season instead of other stuff. It's a lot of stress, I pretty much want it done with."
One of the country's true high flyers, Bell is a high-level rebounder and big-time shot-blocker for somebody his size. He figures that he'll play a bit of a combo forward role and doesn't mind being more highly regarded for his defense than offense.
"I am better defensive player right now and that's not a bad thing," he said. "Everybody wants to be known as the offensive payer. It's rare that you have a player like me who plays defense and rebounds like that."
When Bell sits down to decide in a few weeks, he'll seek the advice of a small group of those close to him. Most of all, he's just trying to be comfortable.
"My mom, my coaches and my family, what they think I should do will be important," he said. "But it's mostly about a better situation for me and comfort."
