Tiller to Conference USA

As a glue guy for the Atlanta Celtics, John Tiller could always be counted on to compete against some of the best guards across the country. Now the 6-foot-3, 190-pound combo guard from defending state champion Wheeler High School in Marietta, Ga., will take his tough nosed style to Conference USA next year.
"I committed to UAB today," said Tiller. "I think it is a great fit for me. Their style of play fits my style very well.

"I was told if I work hard I had a good opportunity to play early. Along with all these things, I am very impressed with the coaching staff too."
Along with his ability to knock down shots, Tiller can run the point in a pinch and has a penchant for coming up with the key rebound or loose ball. He also is a guy who loves to compete as a defender.
Tiller chose UAB over George Washington after receiving heavy interest from a number of quality mid-major programs.
Tiller, who averaged 10 points and 5 rebounds per game as a junior, joins Curtis Nickson, Howard Crawford and Taurus Dortch as 2006 UAB commitments for what is shaping up to be a very good class for the Blazers.
