Thurow Commits Following Visit
Zach Thurow, a 6'9'' 250 pound power forward/center from Minneapolis South High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota, committed to Cal-Poly after taking an official visit to the school this past weekend, Rivalshoops.com has learned.
Thurow's is a terrific story. After entering his junior year of high school at a bulky 310 pounds, Zach committed himself to losing weight and toning up. By the time the AAU circuit rolled around this summer, Thurow weighed in at 250 lbs, his mobility and stamina having improved markedly.

Cal-Poly, which has recruited the state of Minnesota in the past, took notice of Thurow playing with Team Minnesota, coached by Ryan Thornton, and took a liking to him. After receiving some interest from the Big West school and some academic programs, Thurow made the trip west.
Zach is an excellent student who should sail through the NCAA Clearinghouse. His game is a work in progress, but if the strides he's made in the last year are any indicator, he should develop into a contributor at the college level.
