There is something to be said for a guy who gives his all to lock up his man on the defensive end of the floor. No matter the assignment, no matter the position, D’Ante Bass wants the task of locking up the opposition’s best player.
“I can play in the post at the four, and guard fives. I can play at the three and guard the two, whatever the coach needs me to do really. To me, I can do it all, all over the floor.” Bass said, “I have been working on my ball handling and my confidence in my game. I like to work, I have gotten in the gym and worked on becoming a better player over this past year.”
Because of the Augusta (Ga.) Windsor Forest wing’s prowess on the defensive end of the floor, the 6-foot-6 2022 prospect has a lot of programs looking closely at him.
“Right now, I got two unofficial visits planned as I am going to go to Georgia and then Cincinnati later this month. I have offers from Georgetown, Xavier, Virginia Tech and Georgia right now,” Bass said.

IN HIS OWN WORDS
Georgia: “Coach Tom Crean and Coach John Linehan have told me a lot about the school and how they see me fitting in. I feel blessed to be in this situation because a year ago I was sitting at home under the radar, no one knew my name. I am excited to get over there and see what they’ve been talking about.”
Cincinnati: “Coach Chad Dollar has been telling me all about the program and changes they are making. They are revamping things up there, they have a new staff and all. I went back and watched them play from last year, and I liked the look of the arena and saw some of the players and all. I’m excited to see it in person.”
“I am talking with Ole Miss, Cincinnati, South Florida, South Carolina and East Carolina a lot, too, they are going to watch me during the live periods.”

WHAT'S NEXT
“With me I am big on trust and building a strong bond with my coaches and with my teammates. I will be looking for things like that when I go on these visits.”

RIVALS' REACTION
Bass has length and a lot of pop in his game, that is undeniable. In this setting he showcased that he could play from the wing and make some plays toward the basket, going left. He has great balance in the paint and a frame that should put on good weight, easily. Defensively, that will be Bass’ calling card. He can guard the perimeter or switch down in the post.
To speak toward his versatility, in his first game here, Bass guarded a 7-foot high-major recruit. In his second game here, Bass guarded a five-star big wing. He held both players below 10 points. Look for programs who value toughness and guys who make winning plays to really like what Bass does.
