Three standing out early for four-star Keion Brooks

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Keion Brooks, ranked No. 26 in the 2019 Rivals150, has been a high-major recruit for the past two years. Thus, it was no surprise when the 6-foot-8 forward heard from a number of elite programs earlier this month on the first day of official contact.

“Louisville, Ohio State, Michigan State, Indiana, Iowa, Notre Dame, and a lot of other schools,” he said.

IN HIS WORDS

Brooks touched on three that have begun to stand out.

Indiana: “The communication has been pretty good between them and my dad. They are really trying to keep in touch with me and make a push.

“I really like IU. I really didn’t have a relationship before but now, Archie (Miller) came in hard and strong, and I really like the direction that he is taking the program in.”

UCLA: “The campus is beautiful. It can’t get any better than that with it being in L.A.

“They are a really prestigious school.”

Michigan State: “Things are still great. They love me a lot. I was down there for a couple of games and for open gym with the guys. They are making a strong push for me, as well.

“I like the family environment that they have and they are all playing for each other.”

WHAT'S NEXT?

Brooks will finish out his junior summer on the Nike EYBL circuit with the Spiece Indy Heat bunch.

No visits are set and a commitment is not expected for a while now but look for some of the top programs, both close to home and on the national scale, to throw a good amount of attention into his recruitment.

RIVALS' REACTION

Brooks is one of the better forward prospects in the 2019 class. Indiana's new coaching staff has already made him a priority.

The majority of the Big Ten and a number of other high-profile programs will be in the thick of it until the very end, yet the attention that Miller has given to Brooks could make the Hoosiers the favorite at this point.
