Three Players Booted From Wabash

HUTCHINSON, Kan. -- Three Wabash Valley sophomores -- point guard Johnny Hollingsworth, forward Larry Brown and forward Akhibi Imoniche -- were dismissed from the basketball squad for running into trouble with the law.
JUCO Junction/Rivalshoops.com ran into Wabash Valley Asst. Coach Jesse Watkins at the NJCAA Tournament this week, and he confirmed that all three players were dismissed after being arrested by police in connection with an off campus incident.

The departure of the three players has made the Warriors' bench that much shorter for this week's NJCAA Tournament, in which Wabash Valley is aiming to repeat as champion.
The Warriors are half way there after victories over St. Petersburg C.C. of Florida and Moberly Area C.C. of Missouri.
The player hurt most by the suspensions is probably Hollingsworth, a 6-1 point guard from Cincinnati, Ohio, who was receiving quite a bit of Division I recruiting attention entering the NJCAA Tournament.
Brown, a 6-6 forward from Cincinnati who transferred into Wabash from Bakersfield C.C. in California, had a number of low major and Division II programs interested in him as well.
So on top of not being able to play here this week in Hutch, both players are facing possible legal ramifications from their off court incident.
We'll keep you posted on any developments that occur in the coming weeks with the trio, so stay tuned.
