At 30-2 Seagoville (Texas) High School is poised to make a run at a state title behind their dynamic backcourt duo of Donald Sloan and Derrick Roland. Roland, a 6-foot-4, 185-pound wing player who is the No. 66 ranked player in the class of 2006, has a school list of six schools. Three of those six schools have offers on the table for him.
"I like Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Florida, Kansas, UNLV and Connecticut," said Roland. "Texas A&M, Oklahoma and UNLV have offered me, and Florida and Kansas have watched me play this year. Connecticut is just writing a lot."

Although not in his top school list, Baylor and Colorado have also offered Roland, who is averaging 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists per game this season.
According to Roland, the odds are very good that Roland and his backcourt mate Donald Sloan will be teammates in college as well.
"Donald and I will take a couple visits together this spring," said Roland. "There is a good chance we'll end up at the same school."
Roland, who would like to play quality minutes as a freshman, has a plan for getting his game ready for the next level.
"I need to work on my moves and getting to the basket," he said. "I also need to stay in the weight room."
Roland's AAU coach Tony Johnson of the Dallas Mustangs is certain that Roland will be ready to make an impact in college.
"I think Derrick will be a good college player," said Coach Johnson. "He's a long, athletic kid who shoots the ball really well. Derrick is the type of kid who plays hard every time he steps on the court."
Roland has a 3.0 GPA and is planning to take the SAT on March 7.
