Three Favorites for Vanwright

Normally 2006 three star prospect Dale Vanwright plays up on the Houston Elite 17-under squad, but this past weekend he played with the 16-under squad in the state qualifier and put up huge numbers. The 6-foot-6, 200-pound small forward from Bellaire High School in Houston is hearing from a number of schools, and although it is early, he listed his top three schools.
“Dale is hearing from Baylor, Oklahoma, DePaul, TCU, Oklahoma State, and a bunch of other schools,” said his father Dale Vanwright, Sr. “I know that Baylor, DePaul, and TCU have contacted his coach about him visiting their campus.”

So who does Vanwright, Jr. favor at the moment?
“I haven’t given the recruiting process a lot of thought,” said Vanwright, Jr. “But if I had to name a top three, it would be Oklahoma State, UConn, and Kansas.”
Wright, who is a multidimensional player capable of a triple-double anytime he steps on the court, is looking for a school with a fast style of play.
“I want to go where they play up tempo,” he said. “I like to get up and down the floor. I also want to play somewhere with a good coach and teammates that I can get along with.”
During his sophomore high school season, Vanwright averaged 10 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists, and 4 steals.
He will attend the ABCD camp in July while he continues to work on his game.
“I am trying to get quicker and I’m working on my ball handling,” he said.
