McEachern High School, located just outside of Atlanta, will have one of the best basketball teams in the country this year, and a big part of the reason will be Isaac Okoro. The four-star wing in the 2019 class has established himself as one of the best in the country with his combination of being a great slasher as well as his always improving perimeter stroke.

Right now, he says three schools are coming at him hardest and they are Auburn, Florida State and NC State. Virginia, Florida, Tulane, Georgia, Georgia Tech and Clemson are also involved with the No. 33 overall prospect in the 2019 class.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

Okoro talked about what stands out with each of the schools recruiting him hardest.

Auburn: “They have a really good program. I’m really liking the coaches, the head coach Bruce Pearl. He’s always talking about how I could fit in with their team and how he has sophomores and juniors that could leave for the draft next year.”

Florida State: “I like the assistant coach, Charlton Young. They have been talking to me about how I fit in as well. They’ve been here to our practices a few times, so I can tell they are really interested in me.”

NC State: “We visited there two or three times. I really like how their gym is and how their fans are. The new coaching staff is really good. They are really good at telling you why you should go there.”

RIVALS REACTION

Okoro says he’s still a long ways from making a decision as that will likely happen during his senior year. Auburn was the first school to really prioritize Okoro, and the Tigers have been relentless in their pursuit. Florida State assistant Charlton Young has a long history of stealing top players out of Georgia, so it’s hard to count out the Seminoles. Kevin Keatts and his staff’s pitch seems to be resonating with Okoro as well. Expect these three schools to stay in the picture until the end, but it’s always possible with a player of his caliber to attract more attention later in the process.
