Thompson staying out west

After visits to schools in the Pac-10, Big East and Big Ten, three-star prospect Klay Thompson of Rancho Santa Margarita (Calif.) High School has decided to stay on the west coast and play in the Pac-10.
Thompson, a 6-foot-5, 185-pound shooting guard, chose Washington State over Notre Dame, Michigan and Pepperdine.

"It's a chance to play in the Pac-10," Thompson told Rivals.com. "Plus, I'm playing for a program on the rise. Coach Bennett is a players coach who has been there before and is young. He's a good coach and the players really seem to like him."
The role that Kyle Weaver has played for the Cougars appeals to the versatile and rangy Thompson.
"I'd like to do a lot of the things Kyle Weaver does for them. He's a versatile player who does pretty much everything. Plus, they do a great job setting screens, and shooting off screens is one of the best things I do."
