The 6-foot-6 small forward from Chicago (Ill.) Whitney Young spread the news early Sunday afternoon.
"I have just committed to the Ohio State University," Thompson told Rivals.com. "I really love the staff."
A versatile forward who spent much of his time running the point for his summer team the Mac Irvin Fire, Thompson is an athletic four-star prospect.
Not surprisingly, it was the success that wings have enjoyed under Thad Matta that played a huge role in Thompson's decision.
"Coach Matta's wings have had a tremendous amount of success in past years," said Thompson. "(Ohio State) is an elite program in college basketball."
