Lorenzo Thompson, a 6-7, 230-pound combo forward from Crane High School in Chicago, Illinois, committed to DePaul, according to Lorenzo's family.
Thompson is a big-time talent who was also being wooed by some of the top programs in the Big Ten Conference. Thompson, while possessing a sturdy frame, has very quick feet and the ability to put it on the floor and slash. He has a good set of mitts and does a nice job of sealing his opponents in the post. Thompson showed the ability to score both facing the basket and with his back to the basket at the ABCD camp this past July and at the Three Stripes Tournament at Hofstra.
Lorenzo was previously interested in Michigan State, Michigan, Illinois, Cincinnati, Syracuse, Ohio State, Florida, Oregon, and Wyoming. Michigan State and Illinois had offered at one time during his process.
Lorenzo averaged 18 points and 12 rebounds at Crane this past season. He carries a 2.6 scholastic GPA. Thompson is close to achieving the NCAA minimum on the ACT, but has not yet gained a qualifying score.
