Sheray Thomas, a 6-8, 220-pound forward from Riverdale Baptist in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, told us he plans on taking at least one more visit. "I was supposed to go for Midnight Madness but it's SAT weekend," Thomas said. "But I am going to visit Kentucky on October 18th."
Thomas said he is also considering Richmond, Connecticut, Syracuse, and West Virginia. But UCONN and Syracuse haven't made enough of an effort to convince Thomas he would consider them seriously in the future.
"Virginia is my leader," Thomas said. "But I have to see Kentucky before I make my decision. I had coach (Tubby) Smith in for an in school visit. I got along great with him. I had a good talk. He told me I would have a chance for some playing time as a freshman. He didn't guarantee me plenty of minutes."
RivalsHoops.com watched Sheray play at the St. James Invitational in February and the Southern Invitational last Spring. Thomas performed well. He showed he has a nice medium range game and a soft touch. It was during this time Thomas first had a chance to see the Virginia campus. "I had a great time on my visit," Thomas said.
Potentially, Thomas is a top 100 player. Thomas showed he has some offensive skills that could allow him to be a combo forward on the college level. If his perimeter games extends even further out near the three-point line, he could play the three slot. "I am still open," Thomas said.
