Thomas on his Arkansas Decision

RivalsHoops.com caught up with Charles Thomas to ask him about his decision to commit to Arkansas. Arkansas beat out Florida State and Ole Miss to land the No. 15 power forward and No. 56 player in the Rivals150.
Thomas a 6-foot-7, 230-pound power forward from Callaway High School in Jackson, Mississippi primarily chose Arkansas for the opportunity to play on the perimeter.

“Well, I like my position in where I will play at Arkansas,” Thomas said. “They have four to five players 6'10 or more to play down low. They want me to play the three. Florida State was recruiting me not as a guard and wanted to play me down low. I don’t think there are any 6'8 players playing down low in the league.”
The effort of the whole Razorback program on Thomas’ visit also was a major factor in his choosing Arkansas.
“It [the visit] played a very big role,” he said. “When I was there, there was not a time that the head coach was not with me. The assistants and players were there the whole time also. It wasn’t like they were taking turns being with me. It was a lot like a big family.”
Not only will Thomas be able to play small forward for Arkansas, but he should be able to play early as well.
“I should be able to play early because they do not have a true three man,” Thomas explained. “Right now they are using a three guard system.”
Thomas said that the decision to pick Arkansas was a very difficult one, not only to pick them over Florida State, but also over Ole Miss. Now he just wants to focus on his senior year.
“Right now I am focused on grades and leading my team to a state championship.”
