Thomas Makes Surprise Decision

Adrian Thomas was in the midst of in-home visits this week and apparently he heard and saw enough since Saturday to decide to pick a home for his college days. His decision, based on his comments over the last three weeks, is a bit of a surprise and the 6-foot-6, 215-pound forward believes he found a school where he can play on the wing and be successful.
Since Sunday, Thomas, the No. 119 ranked player in the country, visited with Miami, Cincinnati, Tennessee-Chattanooga, ULCA and Pittsburgh in his home. He was also strongly considering Georgia Tech, where his official visit was cancelled three weeks ago because of Hurricane Frances. On late Wednesday night, he called one school to let them know of his decision.

“Miami, I’m committed to them. They are my school,” Thomas said. “I felt like they were the best situation and they need a player like me. No disrespect to Georgia Tech but I felt like Miami needed me while Georgia Tech wanted me. With Miami going to the ACC, I feel like I can come in there and I could be a star. I know I can help them with my style of game. All said and done, I’m going to get better there.”
Thomas said his decision began to develop just recently after conversations with Hurricane head coach Frank Haith.
“I’ve been talking to the coaches there for the past week and I just feel more comfortable there,” Thomas said. “They are only an hour from home and they were just showing me a lot of love. It’s a good place for me. One of my homeboys, Keaton Copeland, is a walk-on there. I’ve been at his apartment and just chilled with them.”
Thomas had an official visit set to Georgia Tech cancelled due to travel complications due to the weather. Perhaps fate also had something to do with his decision.
“Everything happens for a reason and maybe that was God’s way of saying that Miami was the place for me,” Thomas said.
