Theodis Tarver Update

Theodis Tarver, a 6-9, 210 pound power forward from Carroll H.S. in Monroe, La., told us he had a very good visit to Georgia Tech.

"I really enjoyed meeting the coaches and players there," Tarver said. "I thought I got along well with every one of them. I learned alot about the school. I like the visit alot."

Tarver still has plans on visiting LSU this upcoming weekend. "I am also going to take a trip to Mississippi on September 21st," Tarver said. "I think these will be the only visits I take. They are my top three schools."

Tarver said he expects to make a decision shortly after his third and final official visits. "It's going to be a tough decision," he said. "They are all great schools. But I am looking forward to taking my final two visits."

Tarver, who helped lead the Louisiana Stars to the final eight of the recent Great American Shootout in Denton, Tex., is a long and mobile athlete oozing with potential, Tarver is an exceptionally quiet player on the basketball court whose emotions or expressions rarely seem to change. Think of him as the 2001 version of the "Quiet Man," with all due respects to John Wayne.

Tarver has a graceful gait up and down the floor, and he releases particularly well on the break. He also showed the ability to catch and finish throughout the Shootout, although he will need to continue to get stronger to play at the high Division I level right away.

Tarver averaged 18.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 4.9 blocks as a junior at Carroll H.S. He said he has a 3.0 GPA and has already scored an 18 on the ACT.

Tarver competed with Mike Theus' Shreveport Bossier Select program at the AAU Super Showcase and with the Louisiana Stars at the AAU Nationals.
