Texas shooter picks Michigan State

RANKINGS: Class of 2014 - 2015 - 2016 - 2017
After wrapping up a visit to Michigan State over the weekend, four-star shooting guard Matt McQuaid was expected to have a decision between the Spartans and Creighton this week. That decision came on Thursday morning when he opted to go with Michigan State.

A 6-foot-5 senior at Duncanville (Texas) High, McQuaid made his second visit to East Lansing over the weekend and the visit combined with the program's track record was enough to put Tom Izzo's squad over the top according to McQuaid's father Rob.
"I think that their constant competitiveness in the NCAA and Coach Izzo's track record as a coach and the individual that he is," McQuaid's father said of his why his son picked Michigan State. "The first time he visited he didn't get to spend much time with the team. The second time he got to spend time with the team and I think he had a real good time."
Known as one of the premier shooters in the class of 2015, the four-star currently ranks No. 71 in the Rivals150. That shooting is definitely going to get him on the floor early and he is comfortable out to 22 feet. Off the catch, or off the dribble McQuaid has a quick and clean release but he has the ability to be much more than a shooter when he arrives on campus.
McQuaid is a bouncy finisher around the rim, likes to attack along the baseline and has good athletic upside. At least that is what Izzo sees in his newest commitment.
"(Izzo) thinks that Matt has an incredible upside and is more athletic than people think," said the elder McQuaid. "I think being ahtletic gives you more upside and versatility than a guy who just stands out there and shoots. I think coach Izzo really likes his work ethic."
McQuaid is the third commitment for the Spartans in the class of 2015. He joins five-star power forward Deyonta Davis and three-star wing Kyle Ahrens to make a strong group.
