Texas SF Cutting List, Setting Visits

Matt Wheaton, the all-around 6-foot-6, 190-pound forward from Mayde Creek High
School in Katy, Tex., has scheduled his first official visit. He'll make a

trip to South Alabama this upcoming weekend - the first in what he hopes are
several trips ahead as he looks towards making a fall decision.
The Jaguars, who have offered a scholarship, are a program that Wheaton is
intrigued with.
"They're an up-and-coming school," said Wheaton. "I'm interested in them."
But South Alabama isn't the only school in the running for Wheaton's services.
Two schools have talked about making some in-home visits.
"Kansas State came last week," said Wheaton. "Tulane will be coming the week
after. They've offered."
Tulane is new on Wheaton's list, which now currently includes Liberty and
Stephen F. Austin, in addition to the aforementioned South Alabama and Kansas
State. Wheaton is currently looking at scheduling visits with both Kansas
State and Tulane in October.
Rice was previously a school that Wheaton was very high on - one that he
considered one of his leaders, especially since good friend and Mayde Creek
teammate Rodney Foster had already committed to the Owls. But recent events
have led to Rice dropping off of his list.
"I was starting to think that I wanted to go there," said Wheaton. "But they
told me that they needed to get some big guys, and that they wanted to
re-evaluate the twos and threes they already had."
In the meantime, Wheaton is still sorting things out as the fall signing period
approaches.
"I'm just trying to narrow things down right now," said Wheaton.
