Texas Drops Out Of Recruiting Race

The Texas Longhorns have gone in a different direction. Rick Barnes and his talented assistants have decided to focus on other targets and will no longer pursue Cartier Martin, a 6-7, 200 pound small forward from Aldine Nimitz H.S. in Houston, Texas.
A source close to Martin recently told us that Cartier had a top list of Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Kentucky and Texas. But the Longhorns, according to several sources, pulled the plug on their pursuit and have decided to look in another direction -- the JUCO trail.

So this leaves Martin basically considering Kansas State and Oklahoma State with Kentucky having an outside shot. The Wildcats had gotten in late with Cartier and this might have hurt them just a little.
Martin previously told us this past summer he had offers from Illinois, Oklahoma State, N.C. State, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Texas, Texas Tech and Houston. But this list has been chopped down significantly over the past several months.
Martin was invited to the adidas ABCD Camp in New Jersey last July, but he declined an invitation so that he could attend summer school classes. Martin said he does plan on signing in the Fall.
