Texas combo guard is Big East bound

Larry Davis, a 6-foot-2 combo guard from Hastings High School in Houston, Texas, is headed to the Big East. The three-star guard verbally committed to Cincinnati on Monday night.
"I talked to a lot of coaches from a lot of other schools and I just felt like Cincinnati was the best program for me with academics and basketball," Davis told Rivals.com on Tuesday morning.

Davis said he also considered Arizona State, Utah, Nevada, SMU, Boston College and Miami and the Bearcats met all of his needs as a player.
"They said they wanted to get a good combo guard, someone that can come in and play the one and the two," Davis said. "They said I was the one that they wanted for that."
The Texan is a good mix of scoring and passing in the backcourt. He and teammate B.J. Holmes, a recent Texas A&M commitment, form one of the strongest backcourts in Houston. Davis said his time spent with Holmes and in the Houston area is preparing him for the college level.
"My AAU coach (Chris Walker, a former Villanova player) told me a lot about the Big East and how they liked to play and I see myself in that kind of game," Davis said. "I did my research. They seemed like a good fit for me."
