Texas big man starting strong

Nick Mosley, a 6-foot-8, 195-pound power forward from Bellville (Texas) High School is trying to change the notion that the Lone Star State is a just about football. Early on in the season, the class of 2006 is off to a hot start and proving that Texas is one of the top hoops states in the nation.
Ten games into the season, Mosley said he's averaging 25 points, 13 rebounds, six blocks and four steals a game. He said he's even had a game of 33 points, 18 rebounds and 10 blocks. That stat line would not have happened last year.

"Before last year I wasn't that good but after my first year with the Westside All-Stars over the summer, I started to work harder and harder, probably the hardest I've ever worked," Mosley said.
"It's paying off this year. My defense has always been good but my offense is picking up. I played against the best in the country this summer and now I feel like I'm playing against little kids."
Another reason why his game has improved is because he wants to be a part of a growing pool of good college prospects.
"Texas is known as a football state but I think the best athletes are from here. You have a lot of guys that are really athletic and have a good knowledge of the game. There are a lot of guys with good size, too. In my opinion, this is the best state for basketball in the country."
Mosley went to team camps at Colorado State and Texas A&M during the summer and both programs are showing varying amounts of interest he said. Western Illinois has been down to see him and "they like me a lot," Mosley said. Texas State, UT-Arlington, Stephen F. Austin and Prairie View are also involved.
