Texas Among Many Pursuing Paulino

One of the bigger sleepers on the West Coast to emerge this past summer was lanky 6-2, 160 pound combo guard Kenton Paulino. Kenton played last year at Fremont H.S. in Los Angeles, Calif. He is now at Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield, Me.

Paulino (pictured right), who played with the H-Squad at both the adidas Big Time and Oakland Slam N Jam Elite 8x2 Tournaments, has garnered interest this fall from Texas, Seton Hall, Providence, George Mason, San Diego, Wyoming, Fresno State, Texas El Paso and Pepperdine.
Sources have told the Insiders Report that Paulino may be taking an official visit to Texas in early November.
Paulino can really stroke the ball from beyond the arc and is also effective off the dribble, as evidenced by his 24 points, six rebound, three assists and two steal per game averages last season at Fremont.
If Paulino is to qualify academically, he'll need to boost both his core grades and test score to do so. Since he did not earn his diploma from Fremont H.S., he will be able to boost his core grades this year at MCI.
Once a student athlete earns a diploma from a four-year high school, his or her core grades are frozen in accordance with NCAA Clearinghouse guidelines.
Paulino told us at the Big Time Tournament that he holds a 2.2 GPA and is about 100 points shy of attaining a qualifying SAT score (based on a 2.5 GPA).
The Insiders Report/Rivalshoops.com plans to catch Paulino in action several times this winter, so stay tuned for more updates on his recruitment and game.
