Texan Working on Rebounding for Next Year

You could see it coming, but now it's official. Scott Weaver, a 6-foot-8, 200-pound combo forward from Hebron High School in Lewisville has decided to attend Stephen F. Austin next fall and has informed Lumberjacks head coach Danny Kaspar of his decision.
"I committed to Stephen F. Austin last week," said Weaver in early September. "They called me and said that they offered, so I called them back to say that I wanted to go there."

Weaver made an unofficial visit to the Nacogdoches campus in mid-August and had been impressed enough at that point. So once Kaspar called with the offer, he jumped at the chance. It's all been what Weaver considers a fantastic fit.
"I like everything about them," said Weaver. "I like the campus, the facilities - they're winning games and it's a program on the rise."
SFA has recruited Weaver as a power forward who would spend time shooting from the key, and it's a position that Weaver is comfortable playing. Immediate playing time will be available his freshman year, but the thought is that his days as a starter would not be until after his first season.
"They said I would get some playing time at first," said Weaver. "But hopefully I'd be a starter the three years after that."
In addition to having another successful season with Hebron this year, Weaver will also be working on his game in preparation for being a Lumberjack. He's already been told by the SFA staff what he needs to concentrate on.
"Rebounding is the big thing," said Weaver. "I'll need to keep working hard on just about everything, but rebounding is the thing they want me to focus on."
Weaver, an excellent student, is undecided on what he will major in college. He is Stephen F. Austin's first commitment from the Class of 2004.
