Tennessee adds late piece

THE RIVALS150: 2015 | 2016

Since taking the Tennessee job earlier this spring, Rick Barnes and his staff have had to act quick to add the best players they could find from a limited pool of available 2015 talent. The Volunteers added another piece Thursday when power forward Kyle Alexander committed after taking some to think after his late April official visit to Knoxville.
A slender 6-foot-9 four man who played his senior season at Orangeville Prep in Canada and should be looked at as more of a long-term stock than somebody who the Volunteers can expect instant production from as a freshman.
Alexander runs the court well enough and has good hands. However, he is lacking in strength and has yet to be overly productive as a scorer or rebounder. However, much of that is due to needing more physical strength and because he has been in situations in high school and during the summer with the CIA Bounce, where he hasn't been all that featured on the offensive end.
Rated as a three-star prospect, Alexander is the third player to pick Tennessee since Barnes took the job. Commitments have also been received from three-star junior college forward Ray Kasongo and three-star combo guard Lamonte Turner.
That trio joins three-star wing players Shembari Phillips and Admiral Schofield who signed back in the fall while Donnie Tyndall was still the head coach.
