Teel looking for a couple other offers

After putting up big numbers for Flushing (N.Y.) High School as a junior, Vernon Teel has taken his game to Laurinburg (N.C.) Prep for his senior year. The 6-foot-3, 170-pound shooting guard has several offers, but he is waiting for a couple of Big East schools to offer as well.
"I'm considering offers from Seton Hall, Virginia, USC, Clemson, Rhode Island and Providence," said Teel. "I'm also considering Rutgers, St. John's and Georgetown.

"I don't have a leader right now, but if Rutgers or St. John's were to offer, they would be my leader.
Planning to visit USC within the next two weeks, Teel will more than likely sign during the spring signing period.
"I'll probably sign late to make sure I make the right decision," he said. "I'd like to go to a run and gun offense and play for a coach who gives his players freedom. I also want to play for a coach who is a father figure on and off the court."
After averaging 35 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists per game last season for Flushing High, Teel is now enrolled at Laurinburg Prep in order to raise his core GPA.
"I already have a qualifying test score," he said. "I'm at Laurinburg to bring up my core.
"On the court my best qualities are my leadership and scoring and my willingness to guard the best player on the other team."
