TCU scores Rivals150 big man

TCU's hiring of Jamie Dixon is looking better and better by the day. On Tuesday, Dixon landed his third Rivals150 player since taking over when 2017 big man Kevin Samuel gave the Horned Frogs the nod.

Currently ranked No. 144 nationally, Samuel is a native of Bahama who attends Houston (Texas) Redemption Christian Academy. A visit to Ft. Worth and the vision of a program that is on the rise sealed the deal

"Those guys did a great job recruiting him," Samuel's summer coach Orin Bailey of All 4 Sports Dream Team told Rivals.com. "He took an unofficial visit and went up there and liked the campus. It was small but big and it's a program that's trending up right now.

"Coach Dixon has a reputation for doing things with bigs and that helped. He's won big everywhere he's been and they made him a priority."

Considered one of the top defensive big men in the country, Samuel had a strong summer and put himself in consideration for a move to four-star status.

Jamie Dixon has shown in the past that he will play through his big men and that Dixon and his staff saw Samuel as somebody who can score as well he can defend was huge

"He's a rebounder and a rim protector but they see that can throw the ball into him too," said Bailey. "They throw the ball to their bigs and they recognize that he can score. They aren't trying to keep him in the box as a defender and they were at every game of his this summer and they saw that he can score."

Samuel joins four-star shooting guard R.J. Nembhard and three-star forward Kouat Noi in the Horned Frogs 2017 recruiting class. They are also on the board in 2018 with the top point guard in Texas, four-star Kendric Davis.
