When it came time to make his college choice, three-star combo forward Jalon Miller didn't have to look very far.
Sunday afternoon, the 6-foot-7 product of Dallas (Texas) Seagoville became the first member of the class of 2015 to give Trent Johnson and TCU a verbal commitment.
A scoring specialist, Miller is an offensively aggressive forward who has a knack for creating mismatches on the offensive end of the floor.
Most comfortable playing in the high post, Miller is an excellent jump shooter from between 12 and 17 feet and he is also quite adept at using a shot fake and either one or two quick and decisive dribbles to beat bigger and often times slower big men off of the dribble.
Though he is slightly undersized at the four from a height standpoint, Miller has long arms and is a highly instinctive rebounder. He reads missed shots well off the rim, moves pretty well laterally and has a strong and sturdy frame which helps him when matched up against taller player.
In the Big 12, however, Miller is certainly going to have to adjust to regularly playing against players who may have a size advantage. Since he isn't a shot blocker to begin with, the key for him will be to continue to build muscle onto his frame and use his strength and lower center of gravity to become a physical defender who can force opponents away from their spots.
A member of the Texas Select summer program, Miller has the potential to step in and contribute as a freshman before developing into a starter down the road.
