Tatum Commits Following Visit

Jamaal Tatum, a rock solid 6-1, 155 pound point guard from Helias High School in Jefferson City, MO, verbally committed to Southern Illinois following an official visit to the Carbondale, Illinois campus this past weekend. His decision was reported by our affiliate MOsports.com on Monday.

Last month, Tatum told RivalsHoops.com reporter Russ Blake that his favorite three schools were Nebraska, Southern Illinois and Utah. He had been scheduled to visit Nebraska during the Midnight Madness weekend in Ooctober. Others who had been recruiting Tatum included Iowa State, St. Louis, Evansville, Southwest Missouri State, Wichita State, Wisconsin-Green Bay, South Alabama, Richmond and Missouri-Kansas City.

Tatum averaged 27 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals a game last year. He's also a good student; he is carring a 3.1 GPA in the classroom and has an ACT score in the 19/20 range.
