Tata: Houston Area Sleeper

Amongst all the talented players in the Houston area, there is a 6-foot-8, 235-pound “sleeper” by the name of Ronald Tata. Because he did not play much summer ball and had eligibility issues early in his high school career, not many people are aware of him.
The senior from James R. Taylor High School in Katy, Texas is averaging 10 points, 10 rebounds, and six blocked shots for his 11-6 team.

At this stage of the season, Tata is hearing from Illinois State and Sam Houston State, which has been on his campus to watch him play.
“Ronald is an unknown because he hasn’t played much summer ball and has had eligibility issues with us,” said his coach Ron Crandall. “One of the coaches from a school recruiting him told me that he is the biggest sleeper in the Houston area.”
Tata is not yet a polished offensive player as indicated by his scoring average, but he is a huge presence on defense as indicated by his six blocked shots per game.
“He is a good defensive presence,” said Coach Crandall. “He redirects as many shots as he blocks. He is a solid post player but a little raw offensively. He does have range out to 15 feet and has a seven-foot wingspan. He runs the floor well and uses his body well. I tell you, a mid-major will get a steal with Ronald.”
Although Tata has his GPA up, he still needs to get his ACT score.
