Isaiah Swann returned to his new home at Hargrave Military Academy (VA) this weekend and was extremely happy with his first official visit to Florida State. The 6-foot-1, 200 pound point guard spoke with RivalsHoops.com about his trip and also gave us a look into the coming weeks of his recruitment.

He and fellow recruit Charles Thomas had a chance to take in a football game as well as getting the grand tour of FSU. The Nike All American camp teammates were blown away by what they saw.
“I had a real good time down there. They had everything said up real nice. They guys were cool and the coaches,” Swann said with a pause. “Man, the coaches were great. I had a chance to meet the school president and saw the great facilities.”
The Seminoles are riding the momentum of a strong recruiting class in 2003 and with their new additions to the basketball program, even Swann’s mother is raving about FSU based on her son’s comments.
“He talked a lot about the facilities,” Ivonne Grigsby said. “I’m impressed and I didn’t even go down there.”
Swann will travel to the University of Arizona this coming weekend for his second official visit. Maryland will host the energetic point guard on September 19th and UConn closes out the month when Swann visits the Huskies on the 26th. He’ll round out his tour on October 3rd as he travels to Cincinnati.
Arizona will be at Hargrave on Tuesday to watch Swann play and also discuss matters with the point guard and coach Kevin Keatts. UConn will follow up on Wednesday and Maryland will stop by on Thursday to do the same.
After taking his first visit, Swann has a little better idea of what he is looking for when he talks to the different coaching staffs.
“First and foremost, playing time will be key. I want to contribute right away so that is something I’ll look at. Facilities are another,” Swann said. “(Florida State) told me everything I wanted to hear.”
The style of play will also be a determining factor for Swann. He is looking for an up and down, up-tempo style of offense where he can utilize his point guard skills both as a passer and a scorer. One school has a history of doing just that for their floor generals.
“Arizona is a straight point guard school. They really do a good job of teaching their guys how to play the position,” Swann said. “Basically, I’m looking for a school that gets point guards to the league.”
Like many recruits have said, Swann wants to compare visits and see where he fits best.
“It depends on how the visits go and if it really goes well, then yeah I might commit. But I want to talk everything over with my parents and those close to me before I do any of that,” he said. “I really won’t know until all of the visits are over.”
Swann is currently ranked 22nd on the Rivals150 and is the 6th rated point guard.
